Guess what? . . . We are going to adopt!!!

Last Sunday, January 4, 2009, Mark & I fasted to know what to do about having a family. We both got the answer, "ADOPT!!!" Loud and clear! So on Monday we drove down to Idaho Falls, to LDS Family Services, paid the deposit and got our papers. This week has been crazy! I have been trying to get our house ready for the home study. We went all out. We bought outlet covers, child safety locks for the cabinets, etc. etc. I have been rearranging everything trying to get a space for a baby. We set up our guest room for now, so we don't have to look at a nursery for the time. We have no idea how long this will take, but we are soooooooooooo excited!!! We still have a lot to do with the paper work, and then we will be creating a new blog for our profile. You are all invited to view it, and we will post on here when it is ready.

We feel so strong that adoption is the best answer for us at this time. We know that we will be able to help someone overcome their trial while they help us overcome ours. God has a plan laid out for everything. I know that he has already chosen who will be our children and he is directing us to find them. We will need lots of support through this time and ask that you all pray for us to be faithful and patient through the waiting period. Time means so little to us right now, because an eternal family is what our goal is. We are so over joyed for this experience and thank our Heavenly Father each day.

May God bless all of you in your lives and direct you where you need guidance. In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Oh my gosh! This is wonderful! My cousin has adopted both of her daughters (just barely got her second) and every time she posts something about adoption it makes me bawl. I've encountered a lot of people who had the blessing of adoption in their lives and I feel so strongly about it now. I am very excited for you. Good luck and let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

we are so happy for you two! I love the idea that you are giving the blessings of the Gospel and an eternal family to a child who wouldn't otherwise be so fortunate. What an incredible way to change and enrich their lives. My sister's best friend adopted through LDS family services and out of her 5 kids (she was actually pregnant with triplets at the time they adopted but didn't know it... crazy!) she said that the birth of her adopted son was by far the best- she got to really enjoy him as a newborn without recovery and all that comes along with that. We know there is a special baby waiting for you! good luck!!
